(...Okay, sorry... Family greeting, heehee, :)!... I'm tired of posts titled things like "I'm back"... this one seemed a bit more exciting, haha!)
I know it has been forever since I posted anything here...
The baby blanket I mentioned I was making is done. It took sooo much yarn, haha! But, it is ready for Mommy to use when the baby gets here! Now I have three sets of booties and a special blanket for the baby to keep that I want to finish before April seventh (before would be better... but we don't expect the baby to be too early, after 4 late babies... two of them 17 days late! Mommy wants to keep the blanket that I made to match her doll blanket, and I think I have time to finish the simple but cute knit blanket I found so that the baby can keep one, too.
Mommy has been sewing a lot lately- she is also trying to get a lot of baby items done before baby comes :)!
Other than that, things have been kind of "calm" around here... heehee. Aside for the trip we took to Brattonsville three weeks ago, and the trip to the South Carolina State Museum two weeks ago. Those trips were so fun :)!
Tori and I have been learning sign language the past couple weeks, usually accompanied by Bethani. And, we did something today that we have thought about for a while... post coming later ;)!

Dinner is served...
Daddy and Mommy celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on the 3d (Miss Brenda, one of Daddy's employees, one of our "adopted Grandmas", came to babysit so they could have an afternoon together. She totally made Abbi's day by ordering pizza, heehee :)!). While Daddy and Mommy were out, they stopped at Hobby Lobby. They came back with several plaques for our walls, and, it seems, one other one that they don't plan on hanging up. It was this one...
They bought it for me. Yes, I have a habit of setting the smoke alarms off when making french fries. Especially when I'm making grilled cheese sandwiches to go with them. For one thing, our smoke alarms hate the smell of potatoes (no, really! We can open the oven after the potatoes have cooked for fifteen minutes. Now, all we're doing is stirring the fries... they still have a good 45 minutes to go! They are still next door to raw... and those alarms go off! It is so strange!). For another thing... I do have a habit of burning the grilled cheese sandwiches (you want a tip on how to "repair" burnt-black grilled cheese sandwiches? Often the outer part is the only part that is totally intolerable. I've found it works great to use a cheese grater to get the top layer grated off if you are out of time, LOL...).
They planned on giving it to me for my hope chest on my birthday. But after I made muffins the next morning and forgot ALL FOUR EGGS... And then was having problems with our wheat grinder... and forgot the timer... and had to wait for more pumpkin to defrost... and so many other little things that caused our breakfast to be eaten at about 11:45... (Three hours after I started...)... They thought it was too good a joke to keep any longer.
Haha! All in good fun... Although there is a bit of truth in it for some meals. I don't think anybody wants to come over for grilled cheese sandwiches and fries ;)!... or pumpkin muffins ;)...

Just a bit of my time in the kitchen on Saturday
I usually make the bread for our family right now. On Saturday, I got in the kitchen, ready to make light and fluffy, deep brown, hopefully perfect, bread. We were having company over the next day, and it had to at least be pleasantly edible.
Ha. That worked. Not. Anybody want a 6 pound brick of bread?
I forgot the yeast.
So, I had to make more. So, I mixed it up. Yeast? Check. Salt (which I almost forgot in the first batch)? Check. Milk (which I almost forgot in the second batch)? Check. That's all I usually forget, and it looked like I had everything else.
I set the timer, and left. Surely this time it was right.
I should have stayed and watched it knead a bit. After fifteen minutes, it looked like brown sugar.
I must have forgot the water. (That I thought I remembered putting in.) But that was the only thing that I didn't really remember pouring, so it had to be that.
So we put all three cups of water in. And more flour. Lots of it. Because it seems that I had put water in, just one instead of three cups.
At least this batch rose...
The last batch did taste fine, but Mommy and Daddy had sooooo much fun teasing me about the first batch (I'll admit, the jokes were kinda funny. Like the one about me "wanting to create an object lesson. After all, Jesus is both the "Bread of Life" and the "Rock of Refuge". That bread was certainly part rock...).
It is kind of funny... but it wasn't then!!!
And Tori had great fun laughing at me about something else in the kitchen that day, too.

Abbi's view on how God made us, heehee :)...
We have been studying some catechism questions (you can find them here) during our Bible time the past two weeks. We have been doing two a week (it is adorable to here Emmi answer the question "Who made you?"- "God made... Me!"... With that adorable smile... we've been asking her that question all day long just because it is so cute. And then following it up with the question "What else did God make?" which is answered with that same grin and "Eveysing!" :)).
Well, last Sunday we were starting our Bible time, and Daddy asked Abbi a new question. "Why did God make you?"
Abbi's answer: "Because he wanted to. And because he loved us. And he needed a hammer to do it! He just hammered us to make us!"
Heehee... ouch!

Three teeth in...
Six days...
As stated in my last post, Andrew lost a tooth last Tuesday. One that we didn't even know was loose!!! On Saturday he lost another. At least we knew that this one was loose! But the big surprise came Sunday, the next morning. He was eating his banana bread and calmly announced "I lost a tooth!" Now, we knew this one was loose also, but hadn't expected him to loose it quite so soon (and while eating something so soft!!!!)!
All the teeth were right in a row... He has one of the biggest holes you've ever seen!!!
But Tori beat him!

No, really! She lost three teeth, just in about eighteen hours (one Sunday night, then she went to the dentist to get a couple loose teeth that were cracking taken out on Monday!), just as we were so shocked at how quickly Andrew's were going!

Andrew lost a tooth last night while I was brushing his teeth... a tooth that we didn't even know was loose! He could have picked one of the three we knew were loose ;)!
He has been carrying it around with him since he lost it :).

I'm back :)...
I think it is about time for a real post, right? I know, it's been a while... I've just found other things to occupy me :)!
The past few weeks we have been getting settled back into our school schedule after taking a two week break, since Daddy got some vacation time during the first two weeks of January! We were so glad that he was able to spend that time at home!
Now, we are back into our normal schedule. Added to all the school, cleaning, meals, and family time that are a part of our day, we all are working on some special goals, also. Mommy is working on reading the Bible through in 40 days (which means about three hours worth of Bible reading a day), while Tori and I just finished month two in our goal of reading the Bible through in three months (about an hour of reading a day), and Bethi is getting ready to start trying to read the Bible through in a year (about three chapters a day, I believe).
Emmi is working on memorizing the chorus to "To God be the Glory", while Andrew and Abbi are trying to "learn how to play" the recorder, violin, and ukulele (read; like making the noise that those instruments give :)!). (Although I have a (very) small knowledge of the recorder and violin, I am not good at any of these instruments, and only slightly better at the piano. Someday, sometime, maybe I'll get brave and set out to learn how to play something well, haha!)
And now, I have taken on a new project. I am recreating a baby doll blanket that Mommy had as a little girl, in hopes that it will be useable for our baby, due in eleven weeks. 46 inches long, 39 inches wide, and 13 color changes, without counting the boarder, done in fanfare stitch. My hope is to be done before March. It may happen... it may not... but I'm going to try!
So, that is what we have been up to! (And, in case anybody has been wondering, yes, we had a wonderful Christmas... and I fully planned on posting about it... but time got away with me, and I had no pictures to share (I found out my camera card was full at 12 o'clock on Christmas Eve...) so, let it suffice to say that we had a wonderful day, and it was very enjoyable to have a day spent together while rejoicing in our Savior's birth!)
